“P is for… The Puddle” (poem)

I pondered lonely as a puddle
I have no depth. I am a muddle

On my surface all you’ll see
Is your own face.

That’s not me.

Step on in and splash around
You’ll see my heart can yet be found

  1. I love how your opening line teases my brain with wordplay and memories of Wordsworth’s “I wandered lonely…”

“On my surface all you’ll see/Is your own face./That’s not me.” These lines describe a friend of mine who reflects others – not because she is shallow – but because she is afraid.
