Two efforts from me this week for Ronovan’s latest haiku challenge… One serious, one humorous… Hope you enjoy!
#1
To bend in the breeze,
Breathe deep; maybe that’s the key
To bridge tomorrows
#2
Caught cheating at Bridge
Can’t look neighbours in the eye…
It’s time to move house!
If you move the house here, you’ll have to teach me both bridge AND how to cheat at it…

Ha ha! It could make my commute to work a little long… although think of all the poems I’d write with a super-long commute to fill 🙂

Always something to be grateful for!

Loved both pieces: #1 To breathe deep and let go is the only way. #2 The third line was so funny. A good morning laugh for me.

Thanks Olga. It all started with that third line in my head 🙂

It’s interesting that when I work on a haiku idea, it’s never the first line that comes to me. I usually work around the longer second line. Hmmm.

I guess it’s whatever works for you. I should try starting with the middle line to mix things up…

Great Haiku, I especially love the humour in the second one.

Thanks Denis. Not based on my personal experience, I hasten to add 🙂

Thanks Vashti. Loved your haiku too – wish I’d thought of a Star Trek theme! 🙂

Enjoyed the contrast and how ‘key’ in the first maybe links with the second 🙂

Ah the last one reminds me of my husband getting a fine as he forgot to pay the toll on a bridge, the toll would only have been a few pounds, the fine was a lot more! Not a good idea. Still on the bright side we don’t have to move house…. Very nice haiku Al. 🙂

Thanks Marje. I remember once, many years ago, a friend’s Dad gave us both a lift home. He went too fast through a speed camera on the way, and grumbled about it being the “most expensive lift home he’d ever given”. I had to bite my lip to stop myself saying, “well, it’s hardly my fault that you were speeding!”

Yes, but people do think that way! They never want to take the blame themselves, it is always so much easier to blame someone else!
