When Doubt Came Knocking (poem)

When doubt came knocking at my door
I tried to keep her out
Hid beneath my bed and then
Ignored her every shout

She whispered through the letterbox
Poured poison on my dreams,
Sapped my store of confidence:
Is nothing what it seems?

But as I sat there, tested
I heard a voice within.
Stand up, be tall, have no fear:
You shall not let her win!

When doubt again came knocking at my door
I showed her where to go
Picked up my trusty pen and then
Went merrily with the flow
