Autobiographical Haiku

To save my reason,
I write verses as a gift,
But must work for coin

I wrote this for secret keeper’s weekly challenge, based on 5 prompt words – gift coin verse work reason. This isn’t the best haiku I’ve ever written, but I am strangely proud of it, chiefly because it describes me so perfectly, using every one of the prompt words in one haiku.

Hope you enjoy it too 🙂

    • Thanks Dawn. As strange as it seems for one Brit to wish another a happy thanksgiving … Happy Thanksgiving! I’m in a really positive place this week, so pull up a chair and share some of my positivity 🙂

(May need it back next week!)

      • Hahaha! I’m not quite a Brit, and I thought you were in the States, but… thanks 🙂
I can use all the positivity I can get tonight. But tomorrow, I’ll have all chicks back in the coop, and will prepare a Thanksgiving feast for them all… Hopefully it’ll bring back some positivity in my life, and I can then send some back to you 🙂

    • I’ve dabbled with sonnets, but I try and do them “properly” (ie in my head this is in iambic pentameter), which isn’t my normal style, so it takes a while.

Lol about avoiding friends with a penchant for bacon… I don’t think I’d have any left!

  1. Beautifully done. How you manage it, I am always amazed. A Haiku you created. Your mind words in mysterious ways. You see the words and know where they fit in the word puzzle of the Haiku. You impress me every time. My reason would be saved if I were able to have your sight. YOur truly have the gift. Lovely. Magnificent presentation.

Hope you had a marvelously delicious Thanksgiving. jk

      • Yes, I understand. More of the sentiment of giving thanks. Politically, I don’t support what evolved out of the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock. It all sort of got way out of hand. So I keep to sharing the day and great food as they did at the original day, everyone included and the gifts of good food from the Native Americans. All around the world I would love to see this kind of sharing and togetherness. Peace. 🙂
