To save my reason,
I write verses as a gift,
But must work for coin
I wrote this for secret keeper’s weekly challenge, based on 5 prompt words – gift coin verse work reason. This isn’t the best haiku I’ve ever written, but I am strangely proud of it, chiefly because it describes me so perfectly, using every one of the prompt words in one haiku.

Hope you enjoy it too 🙂

this is but practice – one day you will write for coin – and work never more

You are most welcome, my brother from another mother… Happy Thanksgiving to you and those who mean the most to you. 🙂

I really like it. And it is a feat to get all five words in a haiku!
Have blessed Thanksgiving, Al and family.

Well… I’ll hope for you, because if you can do it, then why shouldn’t i? Sigh!
Not in the most cheerful state tonight, so I need this positive outlook.
Happy Thanksgiving Al, to you and yours.

Thanks Dawn. As strange as it seems for one Brit to wish another a happy thanksgiving … Happy Thanksgiving! I’m in a really positive place this week, so pull up a chair and share some of my positivity 🙂
(May need it back next week!)

Hahaha! I’m not quite a Brit, and I thought you were in the States, but… thanks 🙂
I can use all the positivity I can get tonight. But tomorrow, I’ll have all chicks back in the coop, and will prepare a Thanksgiving feast for them all… Hopefully it’ll bring back some positivity in my life, and I can then send some back to you 🙂

Positivity isn’t finite – I think we’ll be fine! Took a bit of a punt on where you were from tbh… I’m English, but have started writing for a US website too

You are right, positivity isn’t finite, luckily! As for not knowing where I’m from… I must say I’m kind of glad. Shows that I do somewhat succeed at keeping up this anonymity thing, which is still somewhat important considering what I write and where I’m at in my life at the moment… quite honoured to be considered a Brit really 🙂

Throw in the odd French and Spanish phrase too, keep people guessing 🙂 Buenos dias!

Buenas Noches would be more appropriate 😉
I use many languages here, even wrote poetry in German 😉 That’s the good thing when you speak many languages, keeps people guessing where in the world you are from 😉

Hang in there Al, a bloke called something like Shakespeare made a similar comment a few years back

Thanks Denis… am aiming for more achievable goals as a first step though!

Have you tried any sonnets Al? and steer clear of any friends called Francis who have a penchant for bacon

I’ve dabbled with sonnets, but I try and do them “properly” (ie in my head this is in iambic pentameter), which isn’t my normal style, so it takes a while.
Lol about avoiding friends with a penchant for bacon… I don’t think I’d have any left!

Keep on going Al, one day you might find that you have to rewrite this haiku, when you write for coin! In the meantime, enjoy, continue to have fun with your poetry.

Beautifully done. How you manage it, I am always amazed. A Haiku you created. Your mind words in mysterious ways. You see the words and know where they fit in the word puzzle of the Haiku. You impress me every time. My reason would be saved if I were able to have your sight. YOur truly have the gift. Lovely. Magnificent presentation.
Hope you had a marvelously delicious Thanksgiving. jk

Thank you so much! We don’t celebrate Thanksgiving in England, but I’ve gotta say I love the idea of it, esp reflecting on the things in our life that we’re thankful for 🙂

Yes, I understand. More of the sentiment of giving thanks. Politically, I don’t support what evolved out of the Pilgrims landing on Plymouth Rock. It all sort of got way out of hand. So I keep to sharing the day and great food as they did at the original day, everyone included and the gifts of good food from the Native Americans. All around the world I would love to see this kind of sharing and togetherness. Peace. 🙂
