I thought I’d start the New Year with some positive thoughts 🙂

The way forward is clear:
Just keep paddling.

This is the blog of a woman who is seriously on the edge and I mean right ON the edge…no, not there… just a little bit further… further than that…no, further still…just a tiny bit more… just move slightly to the right a little…no, that’s too much…just move a tad to the left…that’s right, just there…now you’ve moved too far to the left… Damn, what part of the ‘on the edge’ do you not understand? Oh, and her matricidal boy genius, come devil spawn.

Thanks Ameena. Am trying to start the new year hopeful, before my default state of cynicism comes crashing back in! 🙂

Oh my. I have quite some difficulty equating you and default state of cynicism in the same sentence together. You cannot possibly be a cynical, not with all that humour and fun-loving personality to go with it.

Thank you… I only wish that were true! I’m as grumpy and cynical as anyone. Truth is, if I’m feeling particularly grumpy and cynical, then I don’t write, so it tends not to come out here! 🙂

Well I have read many of your posts and they clearly show a sense of humour and desire to have fun from which I derived the sense of a fun-loving personality. I was judging for example from the pun in one of your haikus (New Year – old me) which struck me as really funny. Then there were some writes about star wars and the way you analysed things in the movie as well as your funny post about Christmas. These are just a few that come to mind. I guess sometimes we show a different image to others than what we feel or think we are feeling. Sometimes one can be confused on one’s own impressions but I guess you know yourself better than I know you 🙂

Funny, because reading it, I pictured someone exhausted by all that paddling, about to drown! I guess I’m more of a forest creature than an ocean one (though I do love diving. Go figure!) 🙂
Happy New Year Al! May it bring you all the best things you fancy, and those you didn’t even know you wanted 🙂

Thanks Dawn – those surprise fancies are often the best! I’m definitely a forest-type too 🙂

I love this one. Sensible and open-minded with a lot of strength of spirit in it. It almost rings like a “maxime” or a theorem (sorry for my frenglish)

Thank you – I think I aim for that with many of my haiku, so it’s good to hear that! (No need to apologise – your frenglish is fine 🙂 )

On the up. Wrote three poems/blog posts today, which helped. All this blogging business is seriously addictive… I see you’ve committed to a daily challenge, on top of some weekly ones too! You’re worse than I am 😉
