#1
Often overlooked,
The milk of human kindness
Smoothes out life’s furrows
#2
Milk of the poppy,
Smooth, soft, anaesthetising,
My velvet cocoon
#3
White Russians:
Like a hand grenade
Wrapped in silk
#4
Cream rises always
To the top of the carton
Ascent isn’t smooth
#5
Flawless, milky skin
Round eyes, soft lips, tender heart…
And legs she killed for

Thanks Richard… been a while since I’ve had a White Russian, but I think it’s a fair description!

Hand grenades… ah yes, I have experienced their implosion on many an occasion. Fabulous haiku here my friend.

Thanks Annette… white Russians are most lethal!

I also found the metaphor for the White Russian bang on. Brings back carefree memories of bar-hopping days in another life. Ha ha! The poppy haiku really intrigued me. I feel like it has a double meaning. Wonderful, Al.

Thanks Olga… those bar-hopping days seem so long ago now! The milk of the poppy line was a description used in A Song of Ice and Fire for opium/heroin. Dangerous stuff

That’s quite a mix of moods and emotions in there! Yes, please, I’ll take a white Russian. I’m in need of a good drink this week. It’s been one of *those* kinds of weeks and it’s only bleeping Tuesday!

An amazing collection once again Al. You really are letting your imagination rip on the challenges Ron sets. The first one is such a moral for living and the last one really intrigues me. A couple in between hint of dangerous living.

Thanks Denis… the hints of dangerous living are evidence of that imagination, rather than experience!

Wow! Each one better than the next. I loved the first one and the second made me think of ‘Game of Thrones’ (milk of the poppy). I think that’s where I first heard that. And what you wrote about white russians––so funny and true. 😉 Great haiku!

Thanks Vashti! Am sure I heard that in GOT too… expect future haiku to inadvertently include phrases like “the North remembers”, “watchers on the wall”, and “winter is coming” 🙂
