This limerick could be the beginning of a fairy tale. Something old, and scary. Are you sitting comfortably? Once upon a time…
Within the wood so dark and deep
Where no spider dares to creep
The air is silent; deathly still:
There is a purple daffodil
That holds the key to “beauty’s” sleep…

I love this! Absolutely LOVE this. The imagery it conjures makes me close my eyes and dream

Yes, it does sound like a fairy tale of the Grimm kind! Loved the limerick and the pic too! 🙂

You just know that this story wouldn’t end “happily ever after”!

Absolutely not, I would be disappointed in you if it did with your love for blood and guts!

… there will be blood!

Yes, I hope you write it after April so no zombies, but couldn’t it possibly have a happily ever after? Please?

Aw, thank you! I do prefer writing a range of styles and themes. Obviously this month is a bit zombie-ish though 🙂

You’ve not read any of my personal training posts, I take it? The short answer is, no, lol! But Meg is…

Love this! I’m re-reading Macbeth at the moment and this has a hint of “when shall we three meet again / in thunder, lightning or in rain” about it!

The Grimm Brothers would be very proud of you for writing this, Al. It’s an excellent piece of writing and one you should certainly publish in a book.

Thanks Hugh, that’s a big compliment. The plan is to start packaging up chunks of all this poetry and self-publishing them later in the year. The zombie haiku stuff will test the water first 🙂

Well, I can see a book in the making, Al. I’m planning on doing the same towards the end of the year so maybe there will be some joint celebrations to be had?

Hope so! Maybe some joint collaborations too once we’ve all got our first books “out there” 🙂

This is beautiful. Simply beautiful.
But I could use a happily ever after at the moment, so please…? *big puppy eyes*
