R is for…

Welcome to Day Eighteen (already?) of your Essential Guide to Surviving the Zombie Apocalypse.  We all know the end is coming, but that’s no reason for it to turn into a riotous and raucous ride

So, here continues your rough and ready guide to surviving the rise of the undead, covering you all the way from A to Z… It’s … Haiku of the Dead!

The race goes not to
The swiftest out of the blocks
But the survivors

George A. Romero’s
Night of the Living Dead film
Sets zombie template

Zombies (or roamers):
Reanimated corpses
Needing flesh to feed

Learn to ride transport
That doesn’t need any fuel:
Pushbikes and horses

Rest and replenish
At each opportunity.
Drink, sleep, eat and talk.

Your group will need rules
With agreed punishment too:
A social contract

Underpins each social group.
So love thy neighbour

Mindfulness is key
It’s action and reaction
Live in each moment

If in doubt
Run, run, run away
Keep moving!

“You wrote this as part of a month-long challenge? What?!”

Throughout April, I will be joining the A to Z Challenge, posting six days a week to cover each letter of the alphabet… even that annoying “X”… For my theme, I have gone down the well-trodden, stereotypical, bit-of-a-cliché -really path of zombie survival tips… in haiku.

With tongue firmly in cheek, I hope you will join me for the month, and beyond 🙂

There are hundreds of blogs participating – over 1700. I will be doing my best to check out as many of these as possible. You can too via this link: http://www.a-to-zchallenge.com/p/a-z-challenge-sign-up-list-2016.html

  1. Hmmm… horses do need fuel, sort of! It ll depends what sort of food is still available. I guess the advantage is that, in a food emergency, you could still eat your ride (less feasible with a bike, you’ll have to admit!)
Like your silly haikus, as usual. And the less silly part of them too.
I’m wondering one thing. In the Rest and replenish one. Are you sure you want me to talk? Because I’m slightly worried people are going to start groaning every time I open my mouth, I talk so much 🙂
As long as it doesn’t make me next on Annette’s list of foods… 😉
