Al the Author (www.alistairlanewrites.com)

Graeme has written a poem all about me… “Al the Author, writer of stuff”.

I, of course, love it. If anyone’s struggling for inspiration for a poem, can I suggest that everyone just writes about me, me, me from now on?

He’s Al the Author
But, he is ‘not’ Al the cove
Nor Al the Fresco.
Who hails from Hove
And shops at Tesco.

He’s not Al the Dente
Not a dentist is Al
So don’t make an appointment
When tooth hurty
With him
At 2:30 he is not available to fix your crown
And he’s not Al CoPops down with the kids
And he’s not Al down the gym.
If you think he is
I say:”No! That’s not him!”

He’s Al the Author
Writer of stuff
And if you say that he’s not
Watch out

Because, even though he’s not Al the Capone,
He looks tough.

  1. Challenge accepted! Maybe I can crank out a haiku filled to the brim with truth.

    Al’s a smart fellow
    Unless he’s talking about
    The Force Awakens

    Nailed it!

Okay, it’s wrong of me to be a smart-ass (or more appropriately a dumb-ass) on your blog but I do celebrate that our initial interaction was due to my excessive writing about the latest Star Wars.

Congratulations on being a poetic muse! Right on!

      • 🙂 Thanks! I can be wrong on the odd occasion (not this time! Oops, that lightsaber wound opened up again. How is that possible?)

Really enjoying the latest season of Game of Thrones (not everything works, much of Littlefinger doesn’t stand up to much close examination, unless you assume he’s a magical vampire.) I’ll have a lot to write about when the latest series has its finale, and the show’s on hiatus.

        The latest episode was strong.

  2. What a grin! Does the composer understand the law of paybacks? Do you see your opportunity here? I am popping corn, chilling an adult beverage and placing cushions upon the seat of my choice (although, I’ve enough padding of my own to be comfy just about anywhere…) let the games, begin!! 🙂
