Haiku – Flag & Fallen

#1
Everywhere I look
The flagging and the fallen
Urban battlefields

#2
Scanning old tombstones
Those fallen flags of romance
Crumbling to dust

#3
Should this body fall
Let not your spirits flag
For I am with you

  1. # fantastic haiku Al, so different. The second one really speaks out to me as I always think this reading tombstones wandering around old cemeteries. Give me a quick burial in the back yard any day and a lovely bush growing above it. Your first one nails Australia as we currently suffer a federal election campaign.

  2. Al, the tombstones are not wandering , its me and Jill and previously Charlie Girl when she lived. One day in the middle of Winter a tiger snake, (Tony) had come out of a tombstone for a bit of sun, a very groggy snake.
We always refer to that snake as Tony after a previous PM who was like a snake crawling out of a tombstone.

  3. Hi Al! I have to admit that I find this week’s prompt words difficult––to say the least. I know this past Monday was Memorial Day, still I’m clueless. But here you are ‘showing off’ with not one but three haiku and all of them good. Ugh! 😛 Ha, ha! 😉 Well done! I love the picture! That sky is amazing.
