Haiku – Veiled & Fray

Some non-zombie stuff. Still haiku though. Maybe I’ll throw in a limerick tomorrow 🙂

Love exits the fray
When veiled passions reveal
Deeper truths beneath

The truth is veiled
Beneath our own prejudice.
Battle is within.

Groom removes veil
Nerves frayed, hands shaking, trembling.
Until she smiles

OctPoWriMo #25 – Reminiscing on Childhood

Never had a favourite toy,
Not that I recall.
No comforter or teddy.
No treasured bat and ball.

How many other grown ups
Had their memories overwrit,
By some grainy photos,
Or a loved ones reminisce?

Is the poet’s search for truth
Similarly tainted?
Objectivity lost as I become with
Others’ views acquainted?

Memory is fluid;
Perspective always shifting.
Maybe truth matters less
Than the process of truth-sifting

Written for OctPoWriMo. Today’s prompt was “childhood favourites”, ie beloved childhood toys.

OctPoWriMo #13 – Risky Business (poem)

My face doesn’t fit
I don’t belong
I had potential
It’s all gone wrong

Nobody gets me
The smiles are false
I was meant for more
A part of the pulse

But I’m just a tourist
No right to be here
Not built for better
Living in fear

I’m feeling exposed
Nowhere to hide
It’s time for some truth:
Drop the disguise

This is today’s contribution to OctPoWriMo – a challenge to write a poem a day during October. Today’s challenge was to take some risks, and consider the prompts: Exposed – Honesty – Chance

Haiku – “Scales”

Three haiku for TJ’s weekly challenge, trying different takes on “scales” – check out the other entries here! https://amaviedecoeurentier.wordpress.com/2015/09/19/tims-household-haiku-challenge-scales/

Scales fall from eyes.
I see your inner beauty,
Beguiling smile

Scales of justice,
Finely balanced by the truth,
Or so the judge says

Old bathroom scales
Tell me such delicious lies.
Time for some seconds!

Weekly Haiku Challenge – “Silent” & “Loud”

This is Ronovan’s latest haiku challenge, with the prompt words “silent” and “loud” -https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/07/06/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-52-silent-loud/

This is my contribution:

Lost youth’s remembrance;
A truth rarely understood
Silence can be loud

Lost youth’s remembrance; a truth rarely understood
A truth rarely understood: Silence can be loud
