OctPoWriMo #9 – Elemental (haiku)

Feet pickled with damp
From the comforting ground mist;
Fiery thoughts still rage

This is today’s contribution to OctPoWriMo – a challenge to write a poem a day during October. You can sign up here, at any time during the month, or just check out the prompts and tips if you prefer – http://www.octpowrimo.com/

Life is like a … pedalo (poem)

Life is like a pedalo.

If you’re lucky, there’s two of you in the boat…
But it’s never balanced.

The rudder doesn’t work how you think it should, or want it to,
If you do pedal forwards your feet are in a foot of water.

Whatever course you’d planned to take, those plans will change as soon as you take on water.
(You WILL take on water.)

Standing on the sidelines, it looks like great fun.
It never feels like that once you’re in the boat…

Haiku Challenge – Water & Bard (poems)

RonovanWrites Weekly #Haiku #Poetry Prompt Challenge #47 Water & Bard

A tough pair of word prompts this week – https://ronovanwrites.wordpress.com/2015/06/01/ronovanwrites-weekly-haiku-poetry-prompt-challenge-47-water-bard/

I’ve tried a few different styles. Apologies in advance for the awful punning!

The Swan
Bard of the water:
The noble, elegant swan.
We wait on her song

The Storyteller
Wand’ring bard holds court
Singing epic love stories.
Eyes fill with water

The Office Poet
Office bard jots down
An ode to a can of Coke.
Pass me the water!

The Obligatory Pun
Drunk poet dancing
Makes water on the dance floor
“Get out, you. You’re bard”
