The traveller stood and stared
At the junction of the road.
One path was less travelled –
Was that the way to go?
It was covered with thick brambles,
Dense and dark as night.
Who knew what was lurking there,
Hidden, out of sight?
The traveller stood and stared
At the junction of the track.
Then skipped along the travelled path.
And never looked back.
Another of my favorite words.. brambles! This is wonderful. Methinks there is a book in your future sir!

During Halloween, I’d choose the better traveled path, too! 😉

I love the hidden reply to Robert Frost!
And I enjoyed your poem, the lilt and the message of it.

Thank you, DoD . I love Robert Frost’s poem, so this was a tongue in cheek reply to a favourite 🙂

I think the traveller made the right choice. Great poem. One of your best.

Thanks Hugh. The traveller (ie me) hopes you’re right!

If I’m not, then please tell us the story. It sounds the kind of stuff that is right up my street 😉

I love this! I’m struggling a bit more today as I was yesterday. Sigh! I’ll get there 🙂

I did publish, though it has nothing to do with the prompt. Oh well, there’s always tomorrow, if broadband decides to stop striking 🙂

Have to admit, I pictured a sort of Little Red Riding Hood character in my head, skipping away oblivious 🙂

Smart traveller-awfully short story.
Don’t you know the dark and scary wood would make the better tale? 😉

Depends whether we want happy lives, or interesting ones 🙂

Sigh
Long lives don’t necessarily mean happy. 😉

Or: How do we know that dirt doesn’t taste like chocolate if we don’t eat some mud pies? 😉

I love how so many writers are turning spooky this time of year. I liked the little twist in the end. Fun.
