My wife has no fear, with one rider,
To wit, her view of the household-y spider
She lies there at night
Ears covered in fright
Thinking they’ll lay all their eggs inside her!

And rightly so! Horrible, horrible spiders 🙂

It’s the way they scuttle… no creature should move like that… egg laying demons!

Ah, this is one of the few advantages of living in Nottingham, so far from the coast and any large bodies of water! 🙂

You know what I would do? Burn the house down. Problem solved.
Spawn has a similar fear, but his fear is of them going into his ear, burrowing into his brain and then laying eggs. I keep telling him that his fears are unfounded, because they’d have to find his brain first.

There is a scale of spider sizes, the largest being “never go in that room again”. Burning the house down would be the logical next size up. Like, Shelob size.

Shelob size and never mind about burning down the house! I’m leaving the country!

Spiders! Warn me next time… I will now have nightmares about this! 😉 Of course, I’ve had this nightmare before… Still not as weird as that dream I’ve had repeatedly with the ant in the bathtub… that was the size of the bathtub!

Sorry about the topic… I didn’t include a picture though. Do I get some credit for that, at least? 🙂
That is a weird dream… have you seen the end of Antman??
LikeLiked by 1 person
Oh yes, you definitely get credit for the lack of picture! 🙂
Now, you see, with Antman (which I have seen at least 9 times), I was preparing myself ahead of time because I knew all the ants were going to be difficult for me to watch. And yes, the end… I shudder every time. The giant ant dream though — started when I was about 6 years old! It was recurring… but I haven’t had it for a while, thankfully!

Probably best that we don’t mention it here, then… phew! good job no one’s accidentally reminded you of that today… 🙂

😛 I’m okay with Antman and his friends now. They are not in my home. As far as I know.

Nothing planned Al. I’m working on the final run of my upcoming book that needs to be ready for its publication date. However, if I get the urge then you can sure that I’ll publish something on the blog.

Your wife is a very sensible woman. My tip is to sleep with a plugged in vacuum cleaner next to the bed, so that she can just vacuum them up as soon as she feels them. Better yet, so that you can vacuum them up for her.

Ohh, shudder…Ever since I watched The Wrath of Khan(Star Trek) as a kid, I have had a fear of bugs crawling into my ears. Yuck yuck yuck!!! But lovely poem! 😀

I’ll leave it in the memory banks then! Some things are best not returned to 😉

true. All those older Star Trek movies are pretty unspectacular if watched now.

Where I live there aren’t any poisonous spiders (that I know of) which makes me wonder why people are afraid of them. Removing the cobwebs every now and then I can see.

There’s no poisonous spiders in my country… but the hate’s still there. I think it’s the scuttling… 🙂

Scuttling…and the hairy legs and vile bodies and the way they stare at you – yes, they DO stare, I swear it!

Especially when you’re in the shower… they stare and judge you… (or is that one just me?)

Haha it’s not just you! What about when you’re gathering up the courage to squish them with a shoe or rolled-up mag? They STILL stare! They’re like, do your worst! Ugh!

They must be stopped! We had problem a few years back after our roof leaked… the plaster was soaked, and never recovered. I forgot this as I splatted the biggest spider I’d ever seen… I literally left a six inch hole in the wall. Never found the spider’s body either. Evil!

Ewww what a horrible story! And WHAT happened to that body??!!

Well, it did have a rather large wall hole to hide in…

I have this exact same struggle with my children, they are convinced a spider is going to curl up in their ear and nest in there. Very vivid Limerick for me that one.

Brilliant. They lay so many eggs too. However, I do like to see all the babies floating off into the great unknown!

One word––fumigate! Ha, ha! I don’t like those creepy crawlers either. A spider laying eggs in your head is a horrible nightmare. 😮
LikeLiked by 1 person
Haha! It’s very unlikely in this country. Fumigation would be a bit of an over-reaction to the non-bitey, reasonably small, household types that are abundant! A rolled-up magazine seems to do the job… 🙂
